Most employers use external training organisations to provide training to their apprentices, generally a separate organisation than the employer. The employer receives government funding through a contract with the Skills Funding Agency for their apprentices to be trained and achieve nationally recognised qualifications.
After finding the right apprenticeship for your business and an apprentice has been recruited, a representative of the training company will come out to your work place. A training plan will be put in place to support the business and apprentice needs. Often, the representative will visit your work place to review the progress of the apprentice. You will be provided with feedback and support with off-the-job learning as well as elements of the programme.
There are 2 different types of training providers:
- Independent training organisations.
- Colleges of further education.
